O’s Notes: Jenny leads this set of symphonic ballads on violin. Jason Moran (p) and Bill Frisell (g) stand out among the surrounding musicians. The title gives us a strong hint of the contents, as most of this music is as open and natural as a vast grassy field. They get funky on “Hard Sole Shoe” with Moran play a bluesy vamp and on “Song For Sidiki”. “Three Bits and A Horse” is a playful romp but this is mostly music fit for meditation.
