O’s Notes: Trumpeter, composer Charlton Singleton is from a small fishing town in SC near Charleston. He puts together a quintet including producer, drummer Quentin E. Baxter. They open with cool beats from the rhythm section on “Crossroads” with Charlton starting the melody followed by solos from Mark Sterbank (sax) and Demetrius Doctor (p). That theme continues throughout the session including mellow tunes like “Gradual Lean” and the calypso beats of “1000 Nights”.
