O’s Notes: This is a trio lead by guitarist, composer Wolfgang Muthspiel with bassist Scott Cooley and Brian Blade on drums. All but two of the seven compositions were written by Muthspiel. Dance of the Elders is the second release by this trio following Angular Blues, and continuing along those lines, inspired by folk and classical music. The music has a subtle floor with dynamic accents that engage listeners particularly on the title track.
