O’s Notes: Guitarist, composer and bandleader dee Brown puts together eleven mostly original selections for Deep Secrets, his latest release. His primary collaborator is composer and keyboardist Valdez Brantley. We typically prefer the selections with a real drummer (Tony Moore) and bassist Darryl Williams. “Love You Too”, “Make Up Your Mind” and “Wake Up” are prime examples. “Praise Is What I Do” is a fine spiritual featuring vocalist Gerard Brooks and Merlot Devine (s-sax). We also enjoyed “Pretty Girl” with Nate Harasim on keyboards. Brown’s melodies contain catchy riffs that will excite the smooth jazz crowd.
