O’s Notes: Papa John makes good music. He makes his B3 sing the blues with his signature on classics and a few originals. The band composition is a little different with The Banda Brothers (Tony – b and Ramon – d) and his son Joey (p). That’s + bassist (normally covered by the B3), – guitarist and – sax. But the combination works just fine. In addition to blues John adds some funk with “Cold Duck Time” and “Tune 88”. Both DeFrancescos now live in AZ absorbing the heat and bringing fans some East Coast cool jazz. This is a winner.
