O’s Notes: Indian-American composer and vocalist Aditya Prakash brings the two cultures together on Diaspora Kid. While the album will appeal to jazz fans everywhere, Prakash doesn’t turn away from Carnatic Indian music. He incorporates it into the mix to expand our boundaries. There’s a symphonic version of “Maiden Voyage” that begs your attention. We also enjoyed “Ambiga”, the rap by Mic Holden on “Up in Flames”, and “Greenwood”. The wide variety of sounds is sure to excite a large audience.
