O’s Notes: Greg Hatza is a white dude who gained a passion for soul and R&B as a kid and extended that groove into his own repertoire from his seat at the organ. Digging Up My Roots is a reflection of the music he grew up with including a couple of originals notably “Big Big Back” featuring Greg on the mic as well. Peter Fraize (sax), Brian Kookan (g) and Robert Shahid (d) are his accompaniments. They all get a chance to shine during the session. Greg makes 8 blues classics and 3 of his own into an entertaining set. “Back At The Chicken Shack”, “Night Train” and “Stagger Lee” are some of the best.
