O’s Notes: Ada Rovatti is an Italian jazz saxophonist who has studied at Berklee and performed with many great artists honing her skills along the way. Disguise is a popping modern jazz/jazz fusion set with a lot to enjoy. The beats are tight with strong performances from many of the musicians. Anne Drummond (fl) shines on the opener “Ghost Stories” as do Randy Brecker (t) on “Moving Forward”, Zach Brock (violin) on “TBA”, and Adam Rogers (g) on “Stairway To Heaven”. Rovatti makes strong contributions throughout strutting her feathers with a three-minute solo “Smile – Intro”. She composed 80% of the tunes and brings a fresh new voice to straight-ahead and contemporary jazz audiences. Stay tuned ’cause Ada is just ramping up her game!
