O’s Notes: Saxophonist Roxy Coss is the saxophonist for the Diva Jazz Orchestra, but she also leads a quintet with Rick Rosato (b), Jimmy Macbride (d), Alex Wintz (g) and Miki Yamanaka (p). Roxy composed Disparate Parts in the swirl of pregnancy, new motherhood and the pandemic. Her groove is upbeat as she takes us through Parts I-IV: “The Body”, The Mind”, “The Heart” and “The Spirit” featuring Wintz, Yamanaka and Coss, each with engaging solos. We also enjoyed the title track and “Mabes” in a very enjoyable set.
