O’s Notes: Roscoe Mitchell is an icon, a living legend of free jazz. He was prominent with the Advancement of Creative Musicians (the AACM) and his Art Ensemble of Chicago for many years and has evolved as a multi-instrumentalist making provocative music that has found a receptive audience around the globe. His staying power is a testament to his command of the genre. No doubt his signature is distinguished and appreciated. For his debut on Wide Hive he performs a series of Duets with Tyshawn Sorey and Hugh Ragin. This one is worth a listen.
