O’s Notes: This is our first exposure to baritone sax player David Schumacher. His music is cool and funky jazz. The instrumentation is an unusual combination that has Dave partnering with Bob Trowers (tb), Rob Bargad (B3) and Jimmy Cobb (d). But the grouping works well. We liked several of David’s originals including “I Think You Know” and “Henry’s Mad Crazy Blues”. Schumacher even adds his raspy voice to the mix with spoken word on “Where’s It Goin’?” Along with the cool cover art, this CD makes the grade!
