O’s Notes: Los Angeles based pianist Lisa Hilton presents“Escapism, a formidable follow up to“Nocturnal“(4/4). It is somewhat of a continuation of Lisa’s dynamic style that spans across many moods. Her quartet includes Gregg August on bass, drummer Rudy Royston, JD Allen on tenor sax and trumpeter Terell Stafford. Hilton does great work on the keys while bringing her band into the fold for a solid effort. We enjoyed the swinging groove of “Too Hot” highlighting Allen, “Mohave Moon” featuring Stafford and the contrasting “29 Palms”.
