O’s Notes: Essentially Hermeto is a collection of interpretations by Erik Charlston (marimba, vibes, vocals) based on the work of Brazilian composer Hermeto Pascoal. There is happiness in the air with strong samba beats courtesy of bassist Jay Anderson, Rogerio Boccato (perc) and Cafe’ playing percussion. Ted Nash (sax, fl, cl) and pianist Mark Soskin round out the band. Erik and Ted race through the melodies without missing a beat on “Rebulio”. Eight selections with varied pace are engaging, happy and vibrant.
