O’s Notes: Sean has a mellow tone on trumpet that comes out on ballads like “Eternal Journey” as burners like “Gullyism”. The accomplished musicians are Ralph Peterson (d), Tia Fuller (sax, fl), Charles Fambrough (b) and Jones on trumpet with piano duties split between Orrin Evans and Mulgrew Miller. They live up to their reputation with tight beats even on syncopated numbers like “The Serpent”. Sean wrote 5 of the 11 tracks and at 25 years old, he is certainly a player to watch on the jazz scene.
