O’s Notes: Bassist, composer Sue Cahill forms a trio with pianist Dawn Clement and drummer Dru Heller to perform 7 originals on Evanstonia. The music is original modern jazz that swings on the Monk-like opening title track, relaxes us on “Blue Light” & “Fading Into Autumn”, then is more subtly provocative on “Violet Snow” and introspective on “Serenata”. Dawn adds vocals on the closer “June, February” in an album that we easily listed to more than once.
