O’s Notes: La Lucha is a true example of diversity centered on a trio with Colombian-American Alejandro Arenas (b), Mexican-American John O’ Leary (keyboards), and Jewish-American Mark Feinman (d). They add a plethora of well-regarded guests including Ken Peplowski (cl, keys), Houston Person (t-sax), Chuck Redd (vibes) and Melissa Aldana (t-sax). The music is a mix of classic tunes and originals that come together nicely. Among the best are “Ottawa Vez”, “Blues For Houston Person”, “Everybody Wants To Rule The World” and the old school vibe of “Lilis”.
