O’s Notes: Drummer/composer Gerry Gibbs jazzes up some R&B and jazz classics on Family. Vocalist Michelle Garibay Carey sings a fine arrangement of “Song For My Father”, “Betcha By Golly Wow”, and soulful, vocal arrangements of “Pick Up The Pieces” and “We Live In Brooklyn Baby/Everybody Loves The Sunshine”, featuring Kyeshie Gibbs (perc, vocals). This is a pumping 2-disc set with a lot of passion and groove.
