O’s Notes: This session was originally intended to include Dewey Redman but it turned into a tribute after Redman’s death on September 2, 2006. Oliver Lake (sax) shares center stage with Peter Erskine (d), Tim Hagans (t) and Dave Carpenter (b) along with some fine musicians who would have made Dewey proud. They have a keen sense of swing that makes to music fluid. It works on the sultry blue “Boody” as well as the more upbeat “Thren”. Redman would be proud.
