O’s Notes: Carter sings New Orleans style blues. Her voice is gentle and sweet yet powerful. The program is divided into two discs, Feather and Step Lightly. Felicia wrote all of the music and lyrics on the 1st CD while the 2nd includes many covers. We preferred the 2nd (Step Lightly) because it had a more gutsy tone. The core musicians are Bob Barta (p), Frank Russo (d), Amy Shook (b, viola, violin) and Donato Soviero (g). Tim Leahey made a strong contribution shadowing on muted trumpet on several tracks, notably “Dindi” and “Hooray For You”. We also liked “Louise” and “Lover Come Back To Me”.
