O’s Notes: Jawanza Kobie plays keyboards and leads the band that plays his new jazz-fusion compositions. This is a balanced set that is not all about Kobie. He brings guitarist Buddy Fambro, Dwight Sutton (flugelhorn) and saxophonist Terry Thompson along for a session that grooves on both slow and fast tunes. The anchors are Webb Thomas (d), Lee Smith (b) and Leonard ‘Doc’ Gibbs (perc). Feels Better Than It Sounds is a winner for contemporary jazz fans!
