O’s Notes: A love of great music and performing it bring tuba player Jim Self and guitarist John Chiodini together again on Feels So Good. It’s their latest in a continuous stream of very good recordings as a duo. They include several guest artists on this encounter as well! Phil Feather plays alto sax on “Isfahan”, Steve Marsh (t-sax) joins on “Fanciful Dream”, trombonist Bill Booth steps in on “Polkadots and Moonbeams”, and Kris Bergh (t) plays “Riddle of the Mode” as a duet with Chiodini. They all come together as a sextet on “Blues Connotation” to punctuate the set.
