O’s Notes: The subject matter for this recording is the cinematic scores of Federico Fellini mostly from the 1950s. These arrangements are beautiful resulting in music that is easy to immediately embrace. The musicians are a very talented crew led by Pieranunzi on piano. Chris Potter (sax), Kenny Wheeler (t), Charlie Haden (b) and Paul Motian (d) are all well versed and among the best on the free jazz circuit. They come together on Fellini Jazz to give us a more structured set of warm ballads that swing.
