O’s Notes: Trumpeter Ella Grace makes her debut as a leader on Figments featuring all original music. Her band is a quintet with Garrett Munz (sax), Aval Stanley (p), Marion Mallard (b), and Jayden Richardson (d). Julia Danielle sings on “Cherry Blossoms in the Rain”, the lone lyrical track. We also enjoyed “Dandelion”, “The Alchemist” featuring Mallard, and “Echo”.
