O’s Notes: This is a free Jazz duet featuring Japanese pianist Satoko Fuji and Joe Fonda on bass and flute. Generous use of the bow by Fonda adds drama and depth to the recording. We enjoyed “Gift From Billy” and “Painted By Moonlight”. The interactions between Fujii and Fonda are intuitive on Four, their 4th recording together. Natsuki Tamura joins the duo for two selections with his signature trumpet extractions most notably on “We Meet As 3”.
