O’s Notes: Terry was recognized as a player by Hampton back in 1947 and acknowledged by the press as a master on the vibes as well, so this tribute is appropriate. Terry idolized Lionel yet developed his own style. Gibbs is amazingly adept on the vibes at 79 years old. He’s joined by Joey DeFrancesco (B3), Pete Christlieb (sax), Anthony Wilson (g), Dave Carpenter (b) and Jeff Hamilton (d). They swing on “Moonglow” and cook on “Blues For Hamp”, an original written by Gibbs with solos from DeFrancesco and Christlieb. This tribute is strong all the way through, dedicated from a master to a legend!
