O’s Notes: The quartet consists of Javier Girotto (sax), Ares Tavolazzi (b), Fabrizio Sferra (d) and leader Enrico Rava on trumpet and flugelhorn. They open with a very mellow original “Recuerdos” and then start swinging with “The Surrey With The Fringe On Top”. They use a different approach on their arrangement of “Nature Boy” which reinvents the song. The tradeoffs between Enrico and Javier are very good and engaging as are the individual performances of the entire band.
