O’s Notes: Candy can play both contemporary and traditional jazz. This album is focused on the former, billed as a funk exclusive. But Candy strays from the funky formula to include some mainstream pop, old school and rap. While this may broaden her audience, it could also alienate some of the fans that have followed her for many years. The good news is that there is an ample dose of the funky Dulfer that fans know and love! “First In Line” and “On And On” are classic Candy while “My Funk” adds rap vocals by Pete Philly. We also liked the sexy smooth ballads “Still In Love” and “Bliss 2 This” with Joseph Bowie leading the story line.
