O’s Notes: Genine has a strong soulful voice with smoky tones that work well on these inspirational and blues tunes. The band is solid especially the powerful horn section for “I Put A Spell On You”. Tony Degrade does a fine job shadowing Perez on sax. Genine expresses deep emotions on this self-titled release showing great promise. She doesn’t hold back and the emotional impact is almost larger than life.
