O’s Notes: Ghanashyam (A Broken Branch) is a music theater composed by Ravi Shankar that is focused on raising awareness of the increasing incidence of abusive threats (terrorism) around the world. All of the traditional Indian instruments are used including padant, mridangam, sarangi, sarod, dolak and more typical sitar, guitar, flute, violin and vocals. The music is captured in stunning realism serving as an inspiration in the form of hope. The music is not westernized and true to tradition.
