O’s Notes: Andres Belmonte plays music inspired by his trips along the Mediterranean coast, and experimentation in musical art forms, from jazz to classical to hip-hop! Belmonte plays a variety of flutes and adds vocals as well. His band includes Efrén López (oud, buzuq, vocals), Omran Adrah (kanun), Alas Cesarini (b), and David Gadea (perc). We liked the adventure on “Samai Nahawand”, the popping “Albà Xarquia”, the funky “Al Wahid”, and “Suite Yemení” featuring Voro García (t), & Víctor Belmonte (sackbut). This contemporary, mid-eastern music is catchy!
