O’s Notes: German saxophonist, composer Timo Vollbrecht leads a quartet with Keisure Matsumoto (g), Elias Stemeseder (keyboards) and Daveon Seok (d). Collectively they’re Fly Magic, and Givers & Takers is their third release. While they come from different backgrounds, they listen to each other to arrive at a good place. There’s a good mix of tempo and mood, from the peaceful “Pau” to the bubbly “Happy Happy”. “Brighton Blues” and the “Art Is Live” suite are also notable in a unique set that is fresh.
