O’s Notes: Groove City“is a swinging set featuring vibraphonist Chuck Redd. He leads a team with John Di Martino (p), Nicki Parrott (b), Lewis Nash (d) and Jerry Weldon (sax). They share a philosophy of purpose when it comes to music, letting the collaboration emerge as genius. The music has a cool bounce that gets your juices flowing typified by “The Great City”. Other highlights include “Renewal”, “Don’t Let The Sun Catch You Cryin’”, “Regulator” and “Lonely Woman”. The grove is enticing for both contemporary and straight-ahead audiences.
