O’s Notes: Groove Legacy is a collective that revisits the funky, soul/jazz of the 1970s typified by the sound of the legendary Jazz Crusaders. The core is a seven-piece band with co-producers, saxophonist Paulie Cerra, Bill Steinway (Fender Rhodes) and bassist Travis Carlton. Special guests include guitarists Larry Carlton and Robben Ford, Lee Thornberg (t) and Rickey Peterson (B3). They open with a funky tribute to Chicago football legend Walter Peyton and move on through ten songs that will have you reminiscing that classic 70s groove. The head bobbing “Moneybags”, “47 Degree Angle” and “Memphis 40 Oz Hang” got us back into the groove and we chilled on some the ballads like “My Someday Girl”. Where has all of the time gone?
