O’s Notes: Gunn’s Ablazin’ features leader, composer and trombonist Shannon Gunn in the Firebird Organ Trio and with her Quintet. Shannon is the real deal on trombone taking center stage with the lead line on “Gymnopedie #1” and “Orange Noise”, the opener that includes strong solos from bassist Michael Combs and drummer Kelton Norris. There is a touch of fusion on “Cruash” and some cool funk on “Dinah”.
