O’s Notes: Free jazz, Japanese pianist and composer Satoko Fujii composed most of the music on her latest release during the early stages of the pandemic from March 30th to April 26th of 2020. It is a solo piano effort, with a refined, peaceful approach (mostly) from Fujii who can be an explosive and disruptive force, and she is, on a few passages here. These are Fujii’s reactions, thoughts and reflections over eight selections on Hazuki. Forced to confinement, her creative juices flow freely for a well recorded and engaging set.
