O’s Notes: Ratatet is a sextet led by producer/composer/drummer Alan Hall. Coproducer Jeff Denson plays bass with Paul Hanson (bassoon, sax), John Grove (tb), Dillon Vado (vibes) and Greg Sankovich (keyboards) rounding out the band. There are also many guest artists featured throughout the session.“Heroes, Saints and Clowns“was written in part to cope with the fury, violence and political madness swooping over our country over the past couple of years. The resulting songs reflect the volatile moods and sometimes chaotic experiences we share. “A Short Poem For A Shattered Age” and “Gratitude” serve as soothing elixirs for troubled times.
