O’s Notes: Trio San is headed by venerable free jazz pianist Satoko Fujii with Yuko Oshima (d) and Taiko Saito (vibes). Hibiki was recorded Live at Kesselhaus in Berlin. Fujii is playing inside and outside of the (piano) box complemented by percussionist Oshima. The session starts off with a hushed quietness that evolves to an eerie feeling on the title track before exploding on “Soba”, relaxing a bit on “Yozakura”. The tempo variations and dynamics keep the audience engaged as the musicians express their inner voices.
