O’s Notes: Larry is a Serbian immigrant who came to the US 57 years ago. He became a part of the fabric of the US values and maintains a true sense of integrity and truth. He learned to play piano along the way, became a student of jazz and brings us some excellent music on High Wall, a collection of originals and classics. All of it is played with soul, depth and swinging rhythms paraphrasing Dr. Herb Wong in the liner notes. Most is played in a trio format with Larry Grenadier (b) and Eddie Marshall (d). Hector Lugo adds accents on congas on seven tracks as well. Among the best are “Afro 6/8 Minor Blues”, “Lester Minor’s Blues” and “Gypsy Roma” with Vince Delgado playing tabla and bongos.
