O’s Notes: Susan has a smoky voice that fits well with the country, blues, soul tunes that she’s singing on Hope and Desire. The mood is gentle but the message is persuasive on songs like “Soul of a Man”. There’s a soulful groove on “Tired of My Tears” and “Evidence” with supporting chants from Jean McClain and Niki Haris. She also joined with the Blind Boys of Alabama on “Magnificent Sanctuary Band”. This is good music sang well.
