O’s Notes: Drummer Cecil Brooks III leads this cool trio with guitarist Matt Cherrkoff and Kyle Koehler on The Hammond B3. It is a live recording at Cecil’s club in West Orange NJ. The heat is on and they cook for eight numbers starting with “Penn Relays”. The crowd enjoyed a transformed cover of Marcus Miller’s “Tu Tu”. It is not all breakneck pace however as they chill a bit on “Heaven” and relax us on “They Long To Be Close To You”. Favorites are “Sunny” featuring Chertkoff and the theme from “Mannix”.
