O’s Notes: Pianist Zen Zadravec leads a large ensemble through 62 minutes of spirited entertainment. The counter currents are cohesive and well coordinated, especially on “Mentor Disciple”. We enjoyed the uplift from “Live!” with scatting by special guest Dylan Bell. He appears again on the relaxing “Jamilian”. Saxophonist Todd Bashore tears it up on “Climb” and also soothes us on ballads like “Soul Eyes” along with trumpeter Derrick Gardner. This is a very fine effort from Zadravec.
