O’s Notes: The title is a great descriptor of this set of funky fusion. They are all original tracks composed by guitarist Gene Segal. He leads a sextet with Sam Barsh manning the B3, Matt Kane On drums, Mike Sim (sax), Bryan Beninghove (sax) and Jonathan Powell (t). The groove pulsates on “Hypnotic” rocking in and out of a seriously funky trance. “In The Morning” and “Quiet” show the mellow side but we love the way the rock on “Alef” and state the case on “Truth”.
