O’s Notes: Tadd Dameron was a premier arranger and composer in the bop era (1945-1960) but his music was always focused on the brighter side with a steep tilt towards romance.“If You Could See Me Now“is focused entirely on Dameron’s music. Trumpeter Joe Magnarelli leads a quintet with Ralph Moore (sax), Anthony Wonsey (p), Dezron Douglas (b) and George Fludas (d). They play nine of Tadd’s compositions including some lesser known tunes like “Sando Latino”. Magnarelli shines with passionate melodies especially for “On A Misty Night” and the title track. Moore and Wonsey are complementary to Magnarelli setting the mood for love.
