O’s Notes: This chapter of the legendary jazz pianist Bill Evans is In Norway: The Kongsberg Concert. It was a jazz festival on June 26, 1970, featuring Evans’ Trio with bassist Eddie Gómez and drummer Marty Morell. The mood is relaxed with fresh arrangements of thirteen tunes over 80 minutes. Solos are plentiful and well developed on yet another fine performance from Evans that was released for the first time last December (2024). Gomez is in rare form as well! “Nardis”, “So What”, and “Emily” are a few of the finest.
