O’s Notes: Danish pianist Carsten Dahl leads a large ensemble in a tribute to Palle Mikkelborg, a widely respected Scandinavian trumpeter who also appears on this recording. All seven selections were composed by Dahl, produced and arranged by Dahl and Kæv Gliemann. The echoes of the choir impart the feel of a cathedral on the beginning of “Fornax” before trumpeter explodes onto the scene midway through the passage, an example to the music represented here. In The Middle of Nothing is spa, zen music that is immersive!
