O’s Notes: Ella Borges (vocals, keyboards, b) leads the way with her dad Magrus (d, perc). It is on In The Moment, a rich combination of smooth, Latin, contemporary jazz. They open with “Speak From The Heart” with Ella breathing soulful lyrics over warm, R&B. That groove continues on “Why” featuring Rodrigo Sha (sax) and “Forever”. She switches to seductive Brazilian Portuguese lyrics on “O Tempo Traz”. Alain Bradette (sax) joins in on “Forever”, and “Slipping Away” reminded us of vintage Sade.
