O’s Notes: This is a cool swinging session led by Miles on sax, trumpet and keyboards. The rest of the quintet is Jamey Haddad (d), Fred Hersch (p), Jay Anderson (b) and Jerry Bergonzi (ts). Ricardo Monzon (perc) and Kurt Rosenwinkle (g) are a couple of the guest artists with strong contributions. Donahue wrote all eleven tunes. The groove is a swinging cool bop that flows nicely from track to track. They venture into a bit of jazz-fusion on “McEljim” before the mysterious “4 D’s And A G”, one of the best tracks.
