O’s Notes: The stage at Bimbo’ during the 1999 San Francisco Jazz Festival paired Joey with the legendary Jimmy Smith in what was titled B-3 Summit IV. The winner was the audience as both champions conjured up a tremendous amount of bluesy bebop and kept the energy level high throughout the session.
