O’s Notes: Trumpeter and bandleader Randy Sandke has another strong performance on Inside Out. What makes this one special are the layering and stunning dynamics, especially on “Comet Call”. This was discernable not only on our main system but even in a rental car. The music is fresh, modern jazz with a nice arrangement of Ellington’s “Creole Love Call”. The band includes Ken Peplowski (cl), Wycliffe Gordon (tb) and pianist Uri Caine. It packs a punch!
