O’s Notes: Drummer, percussionist and vibraphonist Yoron Israel leads a fine band with Laszlo Gardony (p), Avery Sharpe (b), Ian Buss (sax), Rick Peckham (g), and Dennis Montgomery (B3). Inspiration leans towards spirituality and jazz with a message. Vocalist Leah Hinton sings on several selections notably “It’s All About You Lord”. Our favorites are “Black Scholars” and the strong instrumental support on “Mirror Mirror/Man In The Mirror”, “A Brand New Joy”, “The Island”, and “You’re My Alter Ego”.
